In this video, I show you how your passwords should be stored on your social media sites.
I will show you what a hashed password looks like and how it can be cracked.

In this example, I use Hashcat on my Linux home server; these passwords are encrypted with an MD5 hash, which is outdated but shows the basics of how leaked passwords are encrypted.

Here are five simple rules to follow for good password management.
Use Unique Passwords: Avoid using the same password for multiple accounts. If one account is compromised, others will be at risk, too.

  1. Make it Complex: Use a mix of uppercase and lowercase letters, numbers, and special characters. The more complex your password, the harder it is to crack.
  2. Longer is Better: A longer password is generally more secure than a shorter one. Aim for at least 12 characters.
  3. Avoid Personal Information: Don’t use easily guessed information like your name, birthdate, or common words.
  4. Update Regularly: Change your passwords every few months and avoid reusing old passwords.

Remember, a strong password is your first defence against unauthorized account access. Stay safe! 😊
